Dressed Up

Wallabies Captain Stirling Mortlock, along with fellow team members Stephen Hoiles, Rocky Elsom and Al Baxter introduce the look and feel of their team’s 2008 bespoke off-field uniforms through the new Herringbone campaign.

The photo shoot was “seamless” according to Mortlock, and was to Wallabies key prop Al Baxter, “easily one of the best shoots [he’d] been to”. Photographed by Liz Ham, the pictures are reminiscent of Wallabies’ past greats, evoking the team’s heritage and heralding the refreshed image the team will assume when representing Australia in their new centenary of international competition.

The direction of the shoot and guidance provided by photographer Liz Ham was appreciated by the players and helped them feel at ease in front of the camera. “It felt good, effective….usually [in other shoots] they ask you to do really rugby specific poses which comes out badly and feels uncomfortable,” said Rocky Elsom. Styled by Ethan Newton, Herringbone’s master tailor, the players were meticulously fitted into their looks, with each specifically selected to suit each player’s physique, characteristics and on field position.
