Menu Man

Complete the following sentence: “I feel the need, the need for …” If the word that instantly sprang to mind was “cashmere”, the Jet Fighter school which operates out of Newcastle’s Williamstown airport, Port Macquarie airport and Lismore airport is probably not your speed. If this, however, was the word that popped into your head, then Rodney Hall is the man to make your Top Gun dreams come true.

With over 35 years and over 8000 hours behind the joystick, in 1996 he decided to democratise the skies.

Twelve years later, he has assembled a squadron of machines – including a BAC Strikemaster Jet, an L39 Albatross Jet and CT4 Fighter Trainer – capable of eliciting speeds of 800 kilometres per hour, G-forces aplenty and adrenaline overload in velocity junkies. Hall’s team of pilots which come complete with monikers such as “Easty” (pictured), “Rocket” and “Frawls” - boast a 100 per cent safety record and offer “missions” including: Hot Shot Jet, Top-Gun Jet, Combat Strike Jet, Dog Fight Air to Air Combat Double Jet, and Fighter Trainer Adventure.

The experience costs $3200.
